With no memory there is no future. We refer to those words in the moments of solemnity or when building of the present day is supposed to be linked with the recollection of the history. Szczecin University, made of the Higher School of Pedagogy in Szczecin, is in the same extent subject to such processes of going down in past, present, and future. During the times of the Breakthrough – undoubtedly like during the rest of his life – there was so much of noble disinterestedness, boundless devotion for the Cause, moral order and the fervent love for the homeland in Him – recalls professor Janusz Faryś. – He did prove it during the memorable summer of 1980 when he stood with the youths in the first rank of the renovation for the Republic of Poland. In the more local range he contributed to the creative transformations at the Higher School of Pedagogy. For several months he became rector of the mentioned college – the first one elected in democratic way, then dismissed by the authorities of the martial law. For many farther years he was the first authority of the University and among the environment of Szczecin “Solidarność”. We also hope that the rest of the events presented in this magazine will allow our readers to familiarize themselves with the atmosphere and actions taking place in the academic society of our University.          more
